Overview of the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP)

The presentation will provide an overview of the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP), focusing on the program’s unique approach to procurement, the key stages of the BCIP process, and the newly added military component.

Announced in Budget 2010 and made permanent in Budget 2012, BCIP supports Canadian businesses by procuring and testing their late stage innovative products and services within the federal government before the company launches them into the commercial market.

As the Manager of Innovation Management at BCIP, Greg Spence heads the program team and all associated activities for matching pre-qualified innovations with federal departments and agencies for the purposes of innovation testing and evaluation. Prior to joining BCIP in 2011, Greg spent 13 years working in a variety of senior positions with Government Consulting Services, an organization which provided internal fee-based consulting services to federal departments and agencies.

Speaker:

Greg Spence, Manager, Innovation Management, Build in Canada Innovation Program Public Works and Government Services Canada
