Justify Your Attendance at the CIPMM 2015 National Workshop

The Canadian Institute for Procurement and Materiel Management (CIPMM) is hosting the 26th Annual National Workshop on May 12-13, 2015 at the Ottawa Conference and Event Centre. The Annual National Workshop has been and remains an important professional development event for those with public sector responsibilities for procurement and materiel management. It is also a fantastic opportunity to gain knowledge transfer, obtain innovative ideas and network with peers and private sector suppliers as well as interact directly with public sector procurement and materiel management leaders. Based on the theme “Managing Through Transition – Know Yourself", the Workshop promises to offer an informative and exciting program for our 26th year.

However, we understand that you may need to justify your attendance to your management.

So what will you miss if you are not one of the expected 300 Delegates?

  • An enhanced format of the National Workshop that will include case studies, working group breakfasts, panels, demonstrations, showcasing of projects and Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) talk style presentations at a reduced cost of $875 for a two day pass;
  • A Tradeshow that will feature traditional suppliers  as well as health and wellness exhibitors that demonstrate products and services which will allow you stay current on industry trends and emerging government challenges;
  • A Luncheon Address by Silken Laumann, Olympian on “Becoming Unsinkable”;
  • Motivational speeches “Leading through Changing Times” and “Creating your own Career Path”;
  • Case Studies on topics such as the P3 approach to construction of the new CSEC Facility and the replacement of the Champlain Bridge in Montreal; and
  • A World Café networking opportunity for all Delegates to discuss how they can create their own healthy work environment.

It is expected that there will be over 30 sessions that will address everything from mindfulness and well-being, tips on dealing with difficult people, to discussions on bid rigging, changes to the treatment of intellectual property, flexible and virtual workplaces, enterprise assets management, supplier engagement, complex procurements – and much more.  The Program has been developed to support the needs of all departments and agencies regardless of their size.

New this year is Breakfast Working Groups to be held on the 2nd day of the Annual Workshop. So whether you are a Fleet Manager and have missed attending Fleet Management meetings, or you are  struggling with the completion of your Candidate Achievement Record (CAR) and need some help, or your organization is about to migrate to P2P, these Breakfast Working Groups at the Annual Workshop will be of interest to you.

And remember - the professional development training can help you move towards certification or for those of you who are certified it will allow you to gain valuable hours required to maintain your certification.

Based on the above, we believe that this year’s program and the take-aways will justify your attendance at this premier event!
